And most importantly, why isn't calculating the population for the Census happening automatically? Like the entire US population has to help the government to just count?

It is outdated to give every state two seats no matter if the state has less than one million people or more than ten million people. The constitution writers didn't foresee the future that the population would be so imbalanced. Two seats for each state gives low population states more power.

  • There is one, and only one, purpose for the census; to track population growth and migration between the States to redistribute the representation, suffrage and direct taxes apportioned to EACH STATE in congress to participate in legislative processes to reach predetermined majority consensus of the States. The calculation of the apportionment among the States divides the population of each State by the total population of the country, which is a percentage. For the purpose of assessing direct taxes to each State to pay for the expenditures created by the States in congress for their Union, no other calculations need to be made. However to determine the number of representatives each state is entitled, their percentage needs to be converted into a whole number of representatives, a calculation which requires a proportionality constant and boundary conditions to deal with fractional representatives which result. The proportionality constant, which must be used in every state to preserve the proportionality calculated by the enumeration, the census, was fixed at 1 representative for every 30,000 persons within each State, and the boundary conditions are not to exceed 1 for 30,000 and each is entitled to at least 1 representative. How does this calculation work? The population of each State is divided by the proportionality constant resulting in a calculated number of representatives, for a State like Colorado that calculation resulted in 167.6399 representatives based upon the 2010 census, after truncation of the fractional representative, because rounding up would exceed 1 for 30,000, the whole number of representatives which Colorado is entitled is 167. If a State has a population less than 30,000 which would result in only a fractional representative, then truncation would result in that State receiving zero representatives, in that case that State would receive 1 representative by the second boundary condition which states that each State is entitled to at least 1 representative. This calculation of the whole number of representatives is accurate to within 5% which Wyoming with a calculated number of representatives of 18.7875 and after truncation is entitled to 18 Representatives in Congress. Each State still receives 1 vote in congress, in both the House and Senate, however their vote in the House is a proportional vote based upon their apportionment of representatives, whereas each State has an equal vote in the Senate. The Senate, just like the House, has a number of representatives, each with one vote, but the State has equal suffrage in the Senate which requires each State to have both of their Senators present to vote their equal suffrage. Only the States are members of Congress, only the States are apportioned representation and Suffrage to participate in congress and reach a majority consensus of the States through legislative processes! The representation and Suffrage of each State in both the House and Senate must be independent from the other States and guarded by each State’s sovereignty, and a States representation and Suffrage cannot be reapportioned by party affiliation. This is the basis of the agreement that the States reached to form the Constitution of the United States and the Articles of Confederation before it. Congress is a meeting of the States to discuss matters of common interest that affect their Union, that meeting of the States was converted into a legislative assembly with legislative processes to reach a collective majority consensus of the States as the Union, that legislative assembly which the States agreed upon was formalized, unalterably, in a constitution, and yes the Articles of Confederation is a constitution, to preserve the composition, distribution of power through rights of suffrage, legislative processes to reach majority consensus, and what constitutes a majority consensus of the States as the Union. This establishment of the legislative assembly as the Established Government Authority occurred in Article 2 of the Articles of Confederation; “Article II. Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom and independence, and every Power, Jurisdiction and right, which is not by this confederation expressly delegated to the United States, in Congress assembled.”, the rest of the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution of the United States only defines what anyone who joins a group or organization wants to know before they join, what are the benefits, privileges, rights of participation, and cost associated with membership, that is what a constitution establishes and those who were parties to the constitution agreed to, including the processes for amending their agreement and, dispute and conflict resolution. Sorry, political parties are not invited to become members of the Union or congress, or participate in the selection of the President, Vice President, members of the Supreme Court, or anything with regard to the assembly of the executive departments, all those functions are the responsibility of the united States, in congress assembled, the Union, the Union which makes our country the United States of America! The Parties are the problem, not the solution!

    4th Imptiness4th ImptinessAcum 14 Zile
    • True but I think a lot of people are fine with just one or two kids (some are even going childess). Remember for the birth rate to increase above two , you need a small but significant portion of the population having 3 or more kids. Having more than 2 kids are no longer in favour due to both financial and cultural changes in society

    Benjamin MeusburgerBenjamin MeusburgerAcum 14 Zile
    • @Benjamin Meusburger in usa a lot of employers dont care about whether the workers are legal or not . In fact some like to hire illegal migrants because they work for longer houses and lower wages . And banks will only confirm your identity and financial status not you immigration or Citizenship. They alsodont care whether you legal or illegal since your their customer

      John SamuelJohn SamuelAcum 13 Zile
    • @John Samuel How do those people even live? I can't rent an appartment, have a job or a bank account without registration. There are heavy fines in place for landlords or employers (up to ~60k if I remember correctly) who don't check on that.

  • This may solve what happened to the Mayans. People may have started to leave the cities because opportunities were scarce, cost to much to be there, weren't getting enough back from city resources for amount of contributions you had to give. They may have left to try it out on their own. Vital workers leaving would mean resources weren't produced or distributed, which would cause others to leave and it became a run off effect. Could happen to bigger cities here too and one may become a ghost town.
